Shooting leaves 1 dead Tuesday in Wentzville

Police said the suspect in the fatal shooting was taken into custody Wednesday morning.

WENTZVILLE, Mo. — A suspect was arrested Wednesday morning after a fatal shooting in Wentzville.

According to the Wentzville Police Department, officers responded around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to the report of a shooting in the 1300 block of Hidden Valley Drive, located off Wentzville Parkway, to find a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Doctors pronounced the victim dead on the spot, police said. A person was contacted at the scene and cooperated with police.

Police began searching the area for a suspect, described as a man with dreadlocks wearing a gray T-shirt and black athletic shorts, who fled the scene before officers arrived.

Wentzville Police Sgt. Jacob Schmidt said shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday that the suspect was taken into custody.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after being injured by gunshots. BRIC was created to help people who are discharged from emergency rooms after being shot.
