Shooting involving law enforcement at UNC Health Johnston after altercation

CLAYTON, N.C. (WNCN) — There was a shooting involving law enforcement outside UNC Health Johnston in Clayton Monday morning, according to the health system.

According to a spokesperson, the shooting took place this morning “after an altercation”. Officials said there was “no ongoing threat on the hospital campus” and no hospital employees were injured.

“All areas of the hospital are open,” UNC Health said. “However, our security team escorts all visitors and patients to their areas.”

Patrol cars from the Clayton Police Department and Johnston County Sheriff's Office are on scene in the medical center parking lot located on NC 42.

According to a Clayton spokesperson, there was “an incident involving a JCSO deputy” and city police were dispatched to the scene.
