Shooting in Fairmount Park: 5 teenagers shot, Isya Stanley killed after shots fired in the middle of a crowd gathered in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Five teenagers were shot and one was killed after several pop-up rallies in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia on Friday evening.

The shooting happened shortly before 11 p.m. in the 2400 block of Greenland Drive, near Woodford Manor.

Authorities said they were in the area of 33rd Street and Ridge Avenue after receiving multiple reports of minors and young adults gathering in impromptu pop-up parties.

Police were proactively dispersing several crowds when they heard gunshots in the Fairmount Park area, officers said.

They quickly responded and discovered that two teenagers had been shot.

These two teenagers, a 17-year-old woman and an 18-year-old woman, were taken to Temple University Hospital by police.

Sadly, the 17-year-old was pronounced dead in hospital shortly after. The 18-year-old is in stable condition.

Police later discovered three other victims had been shot. These victims include a 14-year-old man and two 15-year-old men.

They are all listed in stable condition at this time.

Police worked through the night to investigate the major crime scene. There have been no arrests and no suspects found.

Action News spoke with the family of the teen who was fatally shot Saturday. They are devastated and looking for answers.

“I love her so much and I'm going to miss her. I just pray to God that he catches whoever did this to her,” said Tanya Williams, the victim's aunt.

Family identified the victim as Isya Stanley. Today, they demand justice as they come to terms with this sudden loss.

“Y'all took my only daughter. Man, I couldn't even kiss my daughter, I couldn't touch her. I couldn't touch her,” Stanley said myself.

The victim's grandmother is fed up with gun violence throughout the city.

“Gun violence here in Philadelphia took my baby,” said his grandmother Mary Williams.

Williams says her granddaughter just graduated from high school with honors and was on her way to college to study business.

“I'm so shocked that I lost my baby. She's come a long way. She had a great life ahead of her,” said Regina Jones Stanley, the victim's mother.

Family members are pleading with the shooter to come forward.

“I'm so hurt that this had to happen, but I hope whoever did it is found out,” Regina Jones Stanley said.

As for Stanley's family, instead of planning for the future, they find themselves planning a funeral.

“Now, as a grandmother and a mother, I have to bury my baby. My firstborn, grandbaby,” Williams said.

“I was just with her, hugging her yesterday,” she added. “Gave me a hug, ran to my car, told me I love you. She just gave me kisses and kisses on the cheek. I'll never have that again.”

The Philadelphia Police Homicide Unit is investigating this incident.
