Shooting in Chicago at West Humboldt Park: 6 injured, including a 15-year-old

Six people were injured, including a 15-year-old girl who was shot in the neck, during a shooting early Monday morning in Chicago, police said.

Officers responded to the shooting in West Humboldt Park on the city's northwest side around 12:45 a.m., Officer Peggy Benz, a Chicago Police Department spokesperson told USA TODAY.

When officers arrived, they found the girl suffering from serious injuries and she was taken to hospital in serious condition.

As of Monday morning, the shooting suspect remained at large, Benz confirmed.

Four adults shot dead, woman suffers broken foot

Also injured in the shooting:

  • 18-year-old woman shot twice in the back
  • A 19-year-old woman shot in the arm
  • A 25-year-old man shot in the buttocks
  • A 35-year-old man shot in the foot

All four adults were taken to a hospital and found to be in fair condition, police said.

A 33-year-old woman also suffered a broken ankle during the melee and was also transported to an area hospital for treatment.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the alleged shooter fled the scene on foot after shooting the victims.

Motive of shooting under investigation

The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.

As of Monday morning, no arrests had been made in the case.

The shooting remained under investigation Monday.
