Shooting at New Jersey banquet hall in Woodbridge sparks AG investigation – NBC New York

The New Jersey State Attorney General's Office is investigating an overnight shooting at a Middlesex County banquet hall involving a police officer, officials said Thursday.

Authorities responded to reports of a possible active shooter and multiple victims at Royal Albert's Palace, a 1,000-person banquet hall at the Raritan Hotel in Woodbridge Township, around 12:30 a.m.

It was not immediately clear what happened, but prosecutors confirmed that a police officer was involved in a shooting. There has been no confirmation of possible injuries.

Police vehicles from Woodbridge and even New York City departments were spotted at the scene overnight. The road leading to the room remained blocked due to the investigation on Thursday. A white SUV was seen being towed from the parking lot early Thursday, although its potential connection to the investigation was not immediately known.

It was not immediately clear why the New York Police Department was at the scene. The department did not respond to a request for comment Thursday morning.
