Shooting at Louisville nightclub leaves 1 dead, 7 injured: police

One person died and seven others were injured in a shooting at a nightclub in Louisville, Kentucky, police said.

Around 12:47 a.m. Saturday morning, the Louisville Metro Police Department was dispatched to a report of several people being shot outside of a business. When officers arrived at the club called “H20,” they spotted a man with a gunshot wound, authorities said.

Officers provided medical treatment to the man until emergency medical services (EMS) arrived. When emergency services arrived, the victim was pronounced dead. Another victim was also found with a gunshot wound at the scene. Paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries, police said.

As authorities worked the scene, hospital medical staff informed them that six additional adults had arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds. The victims' injuries are not life-threatening, authorities said.

Investigation into nightclub shooting underway

At this time, police are working to confirm whether the suspect and victims knew each other. The suspect in the shooting has not been identified. The Louisville Metro Police Department's homicide unit is handling the investigation, police said:
