Shmyhal discusses arms deliveries with acting US deputy secretary of state

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass discussed key areas of support for Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, Shmyhal said this in a Facebook post.

“US support is very important to Ukraine. We discussed key areas of assistance with Acting Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass. I thanked the United States for their participation in the World Peace Summit and for their support for the peace formula We have taken an important step towards a just peace on the European continent,” Shmyhal noted.

The parties also discussed Ukraine's integration into NATO, restoration of Ukraine's energy sector through USAID programs and joint defense production.

“Particular attention was paid to the supply of necessary weapons, especially air defense. We are grateful to the United States for its decision to provide Ukraine with missiles for the Patriot air defense system as a priority,” Shmyhal said.

According to the Prime Minister, the United States will provide Ukraine with $7.8 billion in direct budgetary assistance this year. This will help strengthen the macro-financial stability of the country.

As Ukrinform reported, on June 21, US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass arrived in kyiv to meet with Ukrainian officials and other partners.
