Sheriff's report: Person with active arrest warrant refuses to provide ID to deputies

Summit County Sheriff's Report.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office arrested a person with active arrest warrants on Sunday.

A vehicle with two active arrest warrants attached was located by officers, according to a sheriff's office report. Law enforcement confirmed the person with arrest warrants was a passenger inside the car.

A traffic stop was initiated. However, the individual refused to provide police with proper identification and refused to exit the vehicle.



The officers were able to defuse the situation and convinced the passenger to voluntarily leave the car. The individual was arrested and charged with failure to disclose identity as well as active arrest warrants for failure to wear a seat belt and criminal trespass.

The vehicle was returned to the driver.



The Sheriff's Office responded to several other calls between Monday, May 27 and Sunday, June 2, including reports of driving under the influence, an intoxicated person and traffic stops.

Sunday June 2

A vehicle without a rear license plate light was observed on SR 248. Officers stopped the car and noticed a strong odor of alcohol. The driver was asked to participate in a standard field sobriety test and performed poorly. The driver was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail without incident. The individual was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving without a license and more.

Saturday June 1st

Deputies were dispatched to reports of a drunk man yelling at people near the Kimball Junction Transit Center. Law enforcement located the man and determined he posed a threat to public safety due to his level of intoxication and arrested him. He was charged with drunkenness and then booked into the Summit County Jail.

Friday May 31

A hit-and-run was reported on the 2 US 40 exit ramp. The suspect fled, but officers were able to locate him. A field sobriety test was conducted. The driver was eventually arrested for drunk driving. He was booked into the Summit County Jail.

Thursday May 30

Deputies conducted a records check on a vehicle. They determined there were two active statewide arrest warrants for the registered owner's son. It was confirmed that it was the son who was driving the vehicle. He was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail without incident.

Wednesday May 29

A traffic stop was conducted near Highland Drive. A records check showed the driver had an active warrant out of Summit County. The driver was arrested and transported to the jail without incident.

Tuesday May 28

Police attempted to locate a driver who may be impaired. The vehicle was located on SR 224. Deputies stopped the car. The driver “showed obvious signs of impairment”, in particular when exiting the vehicle before parking it. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and carrying a dangerous weapon while intoxicated.

Monday May 27

Deputies began to suspect a driver may have been under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop near Newpark. A DUI investigation was conducted. The driver was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.
