Sheriff's Office Seizes Millions of Illegal Cannabis Products

Authorities said millions of dollars' worth of illegal THC products were discovered Saturday in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, after NYPD apprehended three people in the burglary of a corner warehouse on Adelphi Street.

“Look at this [label] says it was made in California. We have no idea that this is true,” said Maureen Kokeas, commander of the New York Sheriff's Office, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, as she showed NY1 some of the discovered products. “It’s possible, but impossible to know because everything is illegal.”

  • Authorities say arrests made in burglary led to discovery of millions of dollars in illegal cannabis products
  • Authorities believe the products found on Adelphi Street in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, were packaged and distributed to illegal tobacco stores.
  • Products such as pre-rolls, flower, THC vapes, edibles and THC concentrates have been discovered

“It’s a good place to be able to come down,” Kokeas said. “Because there are millions of dollars of product on the shelves there.”

Kokeas said the New York Sheriff's Office was previously unaware that this particular location, located at the end of a quiet residential street, was home to a major distributor of illegal smoke shops.

A City Hall spokesperson said the city is currently investigating and looking for the owner of the operation. The city says this is one of its largest cannabis distributor operations to date, with the discovery of illegal products including pre-rolls, flower, THC vapes, edibles and THC concentrates.

City Hall also said more than 200 illegal smoke shops have been shut down so far, and Saturday's discovery attacks a major source of such stores.

The New York Sheriff's Office says anyone can leave an anonymous tip alerting them to the location of an illegal cannabis distributor by calling 718-707-2100.
