Sheriff's Office Makes Drug Arrest on US 45 North | News

MAYFIELD, Ky. — The Graves County Sheriff's Department arrested Mayfield residents Edward Ellegood, 50, and Amber Zib-Poot, 39, on drug charges Friday.

According to a department news release, Deputy Peyton Jackson and Deputy Austin Ramage conducted a traffic stop on their vehicle around 1:10 a.m. on U.S. 45 North between Mayfield and Hickory.

Sergeant David Harrison of the Mayfield Police Department was dispatched to the scene and conducted an open-air search with K-9 Storm. The dog indicated to Harrison that drugs were inside the vehicle.

Ramage and Jackson used the results to search the vehicle, which revealed about a quarter-ounce of methamphetamine and 13 hydrocodone pills, as well as drug paraphernalia. The department's news release also noted that Ellegood “exhibited numerous signs of impairment and was ultimately found to be under the influence of controlled substances.”

After their arrest, Ellegood and Zib-Poot were transported to the Graves County RC Center. They were then transferred to an out-of-county facility by Graves County Jail staff.

Ellegood was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, first degree; first offense, two grams or more of methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance, first degree, pills; purchase and possession of drug paraphernalia; driving while intoxicated, second offense; and traffic violations.

Zib-Poot was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, first degree; first offense, two grams or more of methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance, first degree, first offense, pills; and purchase and possession of drug paraphernalia.
