Sheriff's Office investigates armed robbery, drive-by shooting near Fair Bluff

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A shooting and armed robbery at a home about three miles outside of Fair Bluff took place earlier this week.

According to the Columbus County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the armed robbery call around 1 a.m. on Monday, May 27 and spoke with the victims.

One of the victims said they asked for money and there was a man with a gun to her husband's head. According to CCSO, she heard the suspect say “don't shoot him, he's not gone, say fuck it, it's family,” and the husband gave the three men $2,500 in cash slipped into a pillowcase.

The sheriff's office says one of the men hit the husband in the back of the head with a gun and then left the scene. The husband was checked by EMS but refused transport to the hospital.

The drive-by shooting took place shortly before midnight in the same neighborhood on Tuesday, May 28.

According to the incident report, officers responded to a home along Swamp Fox Hwy W, where they discovered several bullet holes and damage inside the residence.

Several spent 9mm shell casings were found by police on the road in front of the house. A CCSO detective reported it appeared the room was targeted in the shooting. No one was injured during the accident.

The victim told police she was in bed when the shooting happened and one of the bullets narrowly missed her head, hitting the headboard instead.

These are both active cases, according to the sheriff's office.
