According to a news release from the Sheriff's Office, prepared by Chief Deputy Zachary Pingley, a 911 dispatch around 11 p.m. Saturday indicated that a Ford pickup truck was spinning its tires on the road next to the Par-Mar in Huttonsville. Pingley found an old Ford pickup on McAtee Drive, surrounded by “what appeared to be flashlights”, according to the press release. Pingley turned on his vehicle's emergency lights, parked behind the truck and got out to approach on foot when “The driver skidded his tires and fled after the traffic stop.” Pingley pursued the truck, with the father of his vehicle, through Huttonsville and up Mill Creek, at speeds in excess of 60 miles per hour.

At one point, near Linger Farms, the truck “Fishtailed and almost hit a pedestrian walking along the roadway,” version statuses. The truck attempted to turn left onto Adolph Road, but “fishtailed and hit the curb next to Pizza & Sub Shoppe. This caused the driver's side rear tire to deactivate.

Pingley wrote that the truck driver “I fled on foot past the Sub Shoppe and onto Pond Street, where I lost my sight after a foot chase.”

Pingley added that “There was a strong smell of alcohol inside the vehicle where a bottle of Brandy was located. He was a DUI driver.

After asking the public to come forward with information about the incident, the sheriff's office announced Monday evening that the driver and others involved in the incident had been identified.

“The driver was identified as a 15-year-old minor.” indicates the press release from Monday evening. “A juvenile petition will be filed in Randolph County Circuit Court for fleeing with reckless indifference in a vehicle and fleeing on foot. Chief Deputy Pingley has been in contact with the juvenile and his family.

“The minor will also receive multiple citations including no carrier, no insurance, improper registration and expired mvi. An accident report will be completed due to the accident at Mill Creek,” version statuses.
