Sheriff's Office asks for public's help in animal cruelty investigation

Two of three puppies were rescued near the intersection of Moffat County Route 22 and Moffat County Route 24 on May 13, 2024. The Moffat County Sheriff's Office is investigating after three more puppies were rescued discovered deceased in the same place.

On May 13, a Moffat County Sheriff's Office deputy discovered a deceased puppy near the intersection of Moffat County Routes 22 and 24. Upon further inspection, two more puppies were found deceased. All three had been shot.

Three other live puppies were also discovered and safely rescued at the same location. They are currently being cared for at the Humane Society of Moffat County.

All six puppies were males, approximately four months old.



The Moffat County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating the discovery and is asking for the public's help. Anyone with information about the puppies should contact the Moffat County Sheriff's Office at 970-824-4495.
