Sheriff's deputy's gun stolen after series of car break-ins in Clark County – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

CLARK COUNTY — Someone stole a handgun from the Clark County Sheriff's Office, and now deputies are working to get it back.

As shown on Information Center 7 at 6:00 a.m.two guns were stolen after a series of car break-ins in the Northridge area early Monday morning.

“If you want to go out to Northridge. Apparently he was shot last night. These were separate reports and now there’s a stolen car,” a Clark County sheriff’s deputy can be heard saying on Emergency Scanner Traffic.

One of the firearms was recovered during an arrest in Montgomery County on Tuesday.

Greene County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a possible juvenile suspect Tuesday, but could not provide further information.

The sheriff's office said it was still searching for a 19.9-millimeter handgun that came from a county car. It is not clear whether the car was a marked patrol vehicle or an unmarked car.

“Units be advised: vehicle was involved in the theft of a firearm in Clark County. Theft of a firearm. All units are exercising caution,” a Greene County dispatcher is heard saying on Emergency Scanner Traffic.

The sheriff's office said no deputies are on leave at this time as they are still reviewing the facts of the incident.

Clark County Sheriff's Office Acting Deputy Chief Mike Young told News Center 7 in a statement that the sheriff's office takes gun safety and the storage of department-issued weapons “seriously.” “.
