KENT COUNTY, MI – Sheriff's deputies arrested five suspects after a driver crashed a stolen vehicle into detectives' vehicles while trying to flee.

The incident occurred Wednesday evening, June 26, when an off-duty Kent County Sheriff's detective reported suspicious activity at the Meijer store in Gaines Township.

On-duty detectives and sheriff's deputies responded and saw the suspects in a white passenger car.

In an attempt to escape, the driver rammed the detectives' vehicles before the occupants fled on foot. With the help of bystanders and Kentwood police, officers arrested all suspects.

Police believe the Grand Rapids suspects, aged 16 to 20, were using stolen credit cards. Kent County prosecutors will review the case for possible charges.
