Message from Sheriff Wayne Ivey

WATCH THE REPLAY: The “Dancing For the Space Coast” charity fundraising event raises more than $400,000 for local charities.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Last night, the Brevard County Sheriff's Office hosted the 10th annual Dancing For the Space Coast, which was attended by more than 700 people and raised more than $400,000.

90% of the profits raised from last night's event will be split between Space Coast Discovery, Aging Matters and Space Coast Basket Brigade, with Best Buddies sharing the final third.

The remaining 10% will be donated to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office Charity which assists all Brevard County public safety officers in times of need.

The real “stars” of the event are our dancers, who have worked diligently to raise funds for these great causes, including Diana Chaves, Terri Clark, Grace Han, Tracy Hudson-Frantzis, Richard and Christine Hunt, Tom Kammerdener , Tom Kelce, Cinthia Kettering, Tracey Latshaw, Dakari Pickens and Emily Anne Thomason.

Each dancer was paired with professional instructors Lance Sexton and Elena Sexton of Sundance Ballroom, Ayonna Andrews and Barry Johnson of Melbourne Ballroom, Alicia Hunter and Job Sanchez of Downtown Dance Studio in Titusville and Heidi Arnold and Primo Garcia of Dancin' Dance Studio.

As always, all instructors volunteered their time to participate in this incredible event.

This year's winners included Tom Kammerdener and Heidi Arnold, who brought down the house with their country music-themed dance routine.

I would like to personally thank everyone in our agency who made this event unforgettable, all of our sponsors for the event including L3Harris Corporation, Florida Institute of Technology, Coastal & Cocoa Hyundai, Orion 180, Space Coast Daily and many more . .

If you missed this incredible evening, be sure to look for it again next year.

As I always say, it takes a community to protect a community, and this event truly defines that phrase!!
