Sheriff: Man, girl injured in ATV incident in Johnstown | Leader Herald News

TOWN OF JOHNSTOWN — A man and a small child were injured Sunday in an ATV incident in the town of Johnstown, Fulton County Sheriff Richard Giardino said.

Authorities were called to the scene around 12:30 p.m., near the corner of State Route 29 and Maloney Road, after the two men were ejected from an ATV.

“Well, they came out [their] property on Route 29 and apparently it got stuck, accelerated and appeared to overturn,” Giardino said. “And that’s how they got kicked out.”

The “shaken” 6-year-old was transported to Nathan Littauer Hospital for further examination. The man, conscious and alert at the scene, was flown to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

Giardino, in a telephone interview, said he was not in the office and did not have information on the man's age. His name has not been released.

The incident was still under investigation.

Several people remained on scene and assisted first responders at the scene, according to the sheriff.

“We want to thank those who stood by and gave us information,” Giardino said.

Part of the road was blocked for about an hour that afternoon, the sheriff reported.
