She remains determined to be a woman who was never missing: police

Police identified the remains of a New York State A woman discovered it last spring while a house was being searched, according to reports.

The remains belonged to Karen Ramsey, 25, whose maiden name was Angelillo, officials said. New York State Police announced in April that human remains were found at the site of a home under construction in the Putnam County town of Patterson. Ramsey's remains were discovered during excavation work at the construction site.

Ramsey is not believed to have ever been reported missing, officials said. New York State Police had no reports that she had been reported missing and could not find any agencies listing her as missing, the troop's spokesman said. K, AJ Hicks, during the press conference.

But “things were a little different back then” and it's plausible that there was a physical missing report for Ramsey that was never digitized, Hicks said, according to the Union of times.

Ramsey's death was ruled a homicide. The cause of his death has not been released. Police also do not release the identity of the family member who provided the correspondence. DNA sample as part of the ongoing investigation, Hicks told the Times Union.

Ramsey was last seen alive in May 1980.

Police said they located Ramsey's husband's first wife. The woman lives in Florida and is helping authorities, they said.
