Shane Nolan sentenced to one year in prison in Green Bay

GREEN BAY – A former prison guard was sentenced to a year in prison and four years of probation after being convicted of pushing a woman into a foyer during a party.

Shane Nolan, 33, was sentenced Friday by Brown County Judge Kendall Kelley. Nolan was convicted of two counts of felony battery and misdemeanor disorderly conduct and acquitted of hate crime enhancement charges in February.

The maximum sentence for a significant battery charge is one and a half years in custody, followed by two years of extended supervision.

Dessiray Koss, 32, suffered third-degree burns to his right arm, burns and injuries to his left wrist and chin during the attack in early July 2021. Nolan was previously a prison guard at Green Correctional Institution Bay at the time, but was fired from the position in November 2022.
