Sex trafficking trial against McMahon suspended due to criminal investigation by Department of Justice (updated)

In January, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a shocking and disturbing sex trafficking complaint against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis and WWE. The defendants each separately responded to the lawsuit by filing a motion requesting that the matter be handled in private arbitration hearings rather than litigating it in court.

Earlier today, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York filed a notice to appear in Grant's case, and he is now on hold pending a federal criminal investigation by the department of Justice.

We learned last summer of a federal investigation into McMahon's hush money scandal, and new details about that investigation surfaced in February.

Grant's attorney, Ann Callis, released the following statement regarding this development:

“MS. Grant has consented to a request from the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York to stay his case against Mr. McMahon, WWE and Mr. Laurinaitis, pursuant to an ongoing non-public investigation. We will cooperate with all next steps appropriate.

UPDATE: Vince McMahon's lawyer, Jessica Rosenberg, issued the following statement to Wrestlenomics:

“We remain confident that the evidence will prove that Ms. Grant’s allegations are false and that her complaint is nothing more than a fabricated and vindictive account from a disgruntled former girlfriend.”
