Sex offender accused of masturbating in front of teen at Miami-Dade bus station

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Florida. – Police arrested a 69-year-old sex offender after they say he exposed his genitals and masturbated in front of a 15-year-old boy at a Miami-Dade bus station last month.

According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Police Department, José Luis Denis faces one count of sexual assault of a child and exposure of a child.

Jail records show he also faces a separate charge for violating his conditions of registration as a convicted sex offender.

The victim told detectives he was riding a Miami-Dade County bus around 1 p.m. on April 22 when he met Denis at the Palmetto Metrorail station, according to the report.

Authorities said that moments after meeting Denis on the bus, Denis asked the victim to pay her entrance fee to board the Metrorail.

According to the report, while on board the Metrorail, Denis invited the victim to sit near him so they could continue their conversation.

Police said that at some point during their conversation, Denis exposed his penis to the victim and began masturbating while attempting to grab the victim's hand and guide her to his penis.

As the victim exited the Metrorail, Denis grabbed the victim's buttocks over her clothing, according to the report.

After speaking with investigators, police said the victim identified Denis from a stack of photos.

After reading Denis his Miranda rights, he provided detectives with a statement that was redacted from the released arrest report.

As of Wednesday, Denis was being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond has not yet been determined.
