Several cats taken to vet after house fire in Hanover

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Several cats are receiving care at a local emergency veterinary clinic after a house fire Tuesday afternoon in Hanover County.

Just after 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, units from the Hanover County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the 6300 block of Tammy Lane for a report of a house fire.


When firefighters arrived, they noticed smoke coming from the back of the house. According to firefighters, the fire was extinguished within 30 minutes.

No residents were injured in the fire and are currently being assisted by the Red Cross. Several cats rescued from the home were taken to a local emergency veterinary clinic for treatment, according to firefighters.

The cause of this fire remains under investigation.
