Seven victims of Crete shooting released from hospital

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Authorities said Tuesday that all victims of the Crete mass shooting have been released from the hospital.

Seven people were shot and wounded Friday when, according to the Nebraska State Patrol, Billy Booth, 74, shot his neighbors across the street.

Law enforcement later found Booth dead in his home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Crete police said there was a history between Booth and the victims. He had complained about the way they drove and parked in the neighborhood, police said.

Booth had also previously told the victims – who are Hispanic – to “speak English” and “go back where you came from,” police said.

The patrol said it was investigating to determine if the shooting was a hate crime.
