Sentence postponed for man convicted of fatal stabbing in Rotterdam

The sentencing of the man convicted of fatally stabbing a man on New Year's Day 2022 has been delayed.

Christopher Smith-Wadsworth was convicted in Albany of the murder of 24-year-old Sutlesh Girdharry.

The judgment was scheduled for Tuesday, but it is now set for July 30 at 9:30 a.m.

The murder stemmed from a fight at a New Year's party at a house on Curry Road in Rotterdam. A group of people left the gathering after an argument and returned later with another group of people.

Smith-Wadsworth stabbed Girdharry several times. Girdharry was unarmed at the time.

In April, a jury found Smith-Wadsworth guilty of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
