Second suspect charged in weekend shooting on Court Ave.

DES MOINES, Iowa — A second suspect has been charged in connection with a shooting on Court Avenue over the weekend.

Around 2:09 a.m. Sunday, a shooting occurred in the 100 block of Court Avenue. Officers conducting foot patrol in the Court Avenue entertainment district witnessed the shooting and immediately responded, Des Moines police said. No injuries were reported.

The suspected shooter reportedly tried to flee the scene, but fell while running. The suspect, now identified as Brandon Lee Foster, 25, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the hospital for treatment of a broken bone.

On Monday morning, Foster was booked into the Polk County Jail on the following charges related to the shooting:

  • Interference with official acts with a dangerous weapon
  • Reckless use of a firearm
  • Persons not authorized to carry a dangerous weapon
Andrew Woock Shelton

Shortly after Sunday's shooting, officers arrested Andrew Woock-Shelton, 25, and charged him with the following charges:

  • Interference with official acts with a dangerous weapon
  • Possession of a controlled substance – marijuana
  • Persons not authorized to carry a dangerous weapon

Foster and Woock-Shelton have been released from the Polk County Jail. Both are scheduled to appear for preliminary hearings on June 19.
