Second suspect arrested in deadly North Texas shooting

Police say the suspect has been charged with murder.

DENTON, Texas — The Denton Police Department announced that Zachary Lowe, 34, was arrested for his involvement in a deadly shooting that occurred on May 25.

Police say Lowe, Riley Clowers, 24, and River Williams, 25, approached a pickup truck in the 3200 block of W. Windsor Drive and forced the driver to the ground under threat of a weapon.

Police said Williams entered the passenger side of the truck with a gun. However, the driver got back into the truck and attempted to drive away with Williams still inside.

Police say a struggle over the weapon ensued inside the truck and the driver and Williams were shot.

Police said Williams was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives were able to determine that Lowe and Clowers committed murder when they both presented weapons during the serious assault and that Williams died during that assault, according to police.

Police said Lowe was arrested on murder charges in Saginaw Tuesday afternoon with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals North Texas and East Texas Fugitive Task Force. Lowe is currently incarcerated in the Denton City Jail, according to police.

Police said Clowers was arrested for murder the day of the incident. He remains in the Denton County Jail on $100,000 bond.

The Denton Police Department says this investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Detective Logan Miller at (940)-349-8156.
