A second suspect has been arrested in the 2023 shootings of two people in Brookfield, Vermont, that left one person dead and another seriously injured. Vermont State Police say on May 12, 2023, Juan Sierra, 27, of Springfield, Massachusetts, died from his injuries. Miguel Fuentes, 29, also of Springfield, Massachusetts, had to be taken to the hospital for his injuries. Sierra's body was found outside a home on Vermont Route 14. The shooting was drug-related, police said. Police have now arrested Joseph Lumbra, 57, of Brookfield, on multiple charges. Lumbra is charged with possession of cocaine, trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in fentanyl and conspiracy. Investigators say Lumbra lived inside the home where the shooting occurred. The first suspect was arrested last July while getting off a plane in New York. Devon Dennis, 43, of Hartford, Connecticut, was charged with second-degree murder in Sierra's death. He was also charged with attempted second-degree murder for shooting Fuentes. Dennis was extradited from New York to Vermont last year and appeared in court. Lumbra is currently being held on bail. He is due in court Thursday for arraignment.
