Second arrest in connection with Herriman's fatal attack on 16-year-old

A second arrest has been made in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old in Herriman.

Hunter John Armstrong, 18, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, according to court documents.

Documents indicated that Armstrong was one of three recruited by already arrested 19-year-old Keith Tyree McClendon to “attack” a 17-year-old, identified in the documents as “ED.” The deceased 16-year-old was another person who was recruited.

Court documents say McClendon used brass knuckles to attack ED, which he later admitted to police he took to the scene.

The victim of the attack was taken to the hospital, documents state.

Police said Armstrong was not charged with participating in the physical attack on ED, but he is charged because police said he conspired with McClendon to participate in it.

“His actions were quite serious as one of the attackers was fatally injured with a knife during this incident,” the document states.

After the attack on ED, police said two people then allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle as a fight ensued between the victim and McClendon and the group ED was with.

That's when police believe the 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in the chest.
