Second accused in Kaliyakkavilai murder detained for supplying weapon | Onmanorama News

Thiruvananthapuram: Police arrested the second accused in the murder of businessman Deepu Soman in Kaliyakkavilai on Sunday.
Sunil Kumar, a native of Neyyattinkara and a friend of the main accused Ambili (also known as Saji Kumar), was arrested from Parassala. Police said he had been absconding for the past three days.

According to the police, Sunil, who owns medical shops in Parassala and Neyyattinkara, allegedly supplied the surgical blade that Ambili used to slit Deepu's throat. Sunil also allegedly drove Ambili to Kaliyakkavilai to commit the murder. The police recovered Sunil's car from Kulasekharam in Kanyakumari district.

On June 24, Tamil Nadu police found Deepu with his throat slit in the driver's seat of a car at Kaliyakkavilai, near the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. Deepu, who operated a crushing unit in Malayam, Thiruvananthapuram, had left his home for Coimbatore to buy equipment for his business. He was carrying Rs 10 lakh in cash, his family said. The cash had gone missing from his car, but police later recovered Rs 7 lakh from Ambili's house and are investigating the fate of the remaining Rs 3 lakh.
