Search underway this weekend for missing Dawson Creek teen last seen in 2016

DAWSON CREEK — A search is underway this weekend for a 14-year-old boy who went missing from Dawson Creek nearly eight years ago.

The family of Denny Poole, who would be 23 years old in 2024, will organize the search along the Kiskatinaw Bridge beginning at noon on Sunday, June 9.th.

The family invites anyone in the community interested in contributing to the search to attend.

Denny Poole was attempting to walk from Dawson Creek to Fort St. John with a friend when he disappeared on March 12.th2016, when the two became separated while traveling up the old Alaska Highway.

Patrols carried out at the time of the disappearance located one of the boys, who was found walking towards Dawson Creek, but Poole never returned.

The resumption of the search follows the discovery of Renée Didder's body along the Kiskatinaw River by an industrial worker taking water samples late last month.

Denny Poole was described at the time of his disappearance as:

  • Aboriginal

  • 15 years old at the time of his disappearance

  • About 130 pounds

  • Between 5'6 and 6' tall

  • Short and long black hair in front

He was last seen wearing Osiris men's size 10 high tops (purple, green, blue and black), blue jeans, a gray hoodie with the letters “DC” on the front and a black hat with flat edges.

The ongoing investigation continues with Dawson Creek RCMP continuing to follow up on leads and existing case information.

Numerous resources were utilized including RCMP Dog Services, RCMP Air Support, Search and Rescue and multiple local community supports.
