Search underway for missing woman from Spartanburg Co.

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WSPA) — Officials are asking for the public's help in finding a woman who went missing Friday afternoon.

According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, Mary Ellen Holland, 79, left her home on Holly Springs Road between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. in a gray Kia Forte 4DR with her dog Charlie.

Holland's family told authorities she is believed to be in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, as well as low blood sugar levels.

The woman is 5’4″ tall, weighs approximately 186 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes.

Holland's car has a South Carolina license plate with the tag ALP 364.

This is not the first time this has happened. According to Holland's family, about a year ago she left home unexpectedly and ended up in Newport, Tennessee.

SLED issued a statewide alert for Mary Holland and asked if anyone sees her to call the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office at 864-809-5299.
