Search underway for missing swimmer on Lake St. Clair

Search efforts are underway to locate a Michigan man who disappeared during an afternoon swim from a boat on Lake St. Clair.

According to the Essex County OPP, at approximately 3:50 p.m. Saturday, Police received a report from the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) in Trenton regarding a swimmer who had jumped into the water from a pontoon boat and did not resurface.

A 28-year-old man from St. Clair, Michigan, remains missing.

Members of the OPP Essex Detachment, along with the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit, JRCC and the US Coast Guard search for missing man on lake Sainte-Claire.

The police said youUpdates will be provided as soon as they become available.

This is the second incident of missing swimmers in Windsor-Essex waters in recent days.

Thursday, twomen, aged 22 and 25, disappeared after going swimming at Sand Point Beach on the city's east side, located near an outlet to the Detroit River shipping channel.

Multiple officers were called to the scene, as were the Windsor Police Marine Unit, the Canadian and US Coast Guard, Windsor Fire and Rescue and Essex Emergency Medical Services- Windsor. Drones have also been deployed to help police in their searches.

The police found their bodies shortly before 8 p.m. Friday evening. The dead of the two men are not considered suspects.
