Search underway for missing Georgia firefighters

The mother of missing 24-year-old Georgia firefighter Chandler Kuhbander is asking for the public's help in finding her son and his ex-girlfriend.

In interviews with Court TV, Jane Kuhbander said she is concerned for the safety of her son and his ex-girlfriend, Raegan Anderson. She said her family last heard from Chandler on Tuesday. She fears Anderson is in a “bad state of mind” and doesn’t believe her son purposely ran away with her to rekindle the relationship.

“I'm terrified. I'm trying not to catastrophize the situation, but it's difficult when so many things are going wrong,” the tearful mother told Court TV.

Jane said Anderson was struggling to move on after her son ended their seven-year relationship in 2023 and moved back into the family home.

“She’s a danger to herself,” Jane said of Anderson. “Raegan is a wonderful person. She's an excellent firefighter. We just want her to go home and get help. »

Court TV attempted to contact Anderson and known family members through the listed phone numbers and email addresses and received no response.

According to a police report, Anderson was arrested Saturday on allegations of property damage for breaking the windshield of Chandler's car. The report says Anderson confronted Chandler at an Olive Garden restaurant in Pooler, Georgia, while he was on a date with another woman. Anderson allegedly began making “false statements” about Chandler's girlfriend, prompting her to leave, then the confrontation continued in the parking lot.

“Anderson stated she did not know why she damaged Kuhbander's car, other than she was very hurt by his departure. She stated they had been together for a long time and she was hurt,” the police report states.

Police in Hinesville, Georgia, issued lookout alerts for Anderson, Chandler Kuhbander and Anderson's vehicle, a black 2017 Ford Focus in which the two may be traveling.

Jane said she believes her son got into Anderson's car “under duress” at a Savannah, Ga., mall Tuesday morning because he cared about her even though they had broken up .

Jane said she saw surveillance video showing a car resembling Anderson's circling the parking lot of the mall where her son was working out at a Crunch gym. The surveillance video also shows her son entering and exiting the mall minutes after Anderson's car arrived.

Jane said she became concerned when he didn't return home Tuesday night for his sister's birthday party and didn't show up for work the next morning. No one in the family has heard from her since Tuesday morning, Jane said, and the last activity on her and Anderson's phone was traced to the Crosby, Tennessee, area.

“He wouldn't have wanted to leave,” Jane said. “We think when she stopped it was a matter of compulsion, so he went with her to stop her from harming herself. She's not of sound mind.
