Bailey had told police that Mosley was walking from Agios Nikolas beach towards Pedi starting Wednesday afternoon and had not been heard from since.

Deputy Mayor Ilias Chaskas told BBC News the search and rescue operation was focusing on the dangerous area of Pedi on the island, where a woman had seen him walking on a road on Wednesday.

The mayor of Symi, Lefteris Papakalodoukas, described the region in Kathimerini as “difficult because it is quite rocky”. He also said Mosley disappeared when the heat on the island was “unbearable.”
