While Davis was arrested by police Tuesday night, efforts continued Wednesday morning to locate Matthews, the KPD said, sharing a photo of him while adding that Matthews should be considered armed and dangerous.

Investigators worked the scene throughout the day Tuesday, KPD said, and were able to share the following details about the fatal incident:

“According to the investigation, which included a review of surveillance footage from the bar, Matthews and Davis approached the bar and began assaulting Herrera outside the front entrance for reasons that remain unknown. Herrera was a security guard at the Pint House. Goosie was a customer who attempted to break up the fight.

“At some point during the altercation, Matthews pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots, striking Herrera and Goosie. An adult female also suffered minor injuries from a graze wound to her foot. Herrera died at UT Medical Center, while Goosie died at the scene.

“Matthews is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, while Davis has been charged with aggravated assault and parole violation.

“Davis was taken into custody last night by Organized Crime Unit detectives and Community Response Team officers. Davis was located in the parking lot of the Shell gas station at 6210 Asheville Highway last night shortly before 10 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing, KPD said, and anyone with information regarding Matthews' whereabouts is urged to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers.
