Search for missing tubers continues on Greenwood Lake

LAKEWOOD, SC (WSPA) – The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is searching Greenwood Lake for Porsha Griffin, 30, who went missing Saturday.

It's been two days since Amika Griffin last saw her daughter, Porsha Griffin.

“Waiting is the hardest part of this whole ordeal, because even to be able to turn the page and know where she is, is she okay, will she be there again? That’s the hardest part,” said Amika Griffin.

Griffin said Porsha and her friend were tubing behind a boat when all of a sudden the tube flipped over, throwing them both into the lake. The friend was pulled out of the lake by a passerby, but Porsha never resurfaced.

“That’s something I never wanted to hear, that my daughter was missing,” Griffin said.

Griffin's family said neither Porsha nor her friend wore a life jacket, but they both knew how to swim. However, officials said the current was very strong.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources said the search involved numerous dives and the use of sonar.

“We went out with one of the guys who took us on the boat just to comfort us. We left yesterday and I just looked at all that water there,” Griffin said.

The family still has hope.

“I hope we get the best results, you know we get the best results, but all that being said, I know I can't question that anymore because I know my God is my God,” he said. Griffin said.

Griffin's family said Porsha was an active member of the South Carolina National Guard, a registered nurse and the mother of a nine-year-old daughter.
