Search efforts shift for vulnerable missing Minnesota man

Henning, MN (KROC-AM News) – Search efforts for a vulnerable missing Minnesota man have entered a new phase.

This is according to a press release issued by the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office. Authorities have deployed multiple air, ground and water resources to find the man since he went missing over the weekend.

Authorities also requested the help of hundreds of volunteers during a massive ground search operation.

BCA issues statewide alert for missing Minnesota man with dementia

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension issued a statewide missing person alert Saturday for 79-year-old Robert Shaw.

Authorities say he suffers from dementia and was last seen early Saturday morning in rural Henning, located about 35 miles north of Alexandria. Shaw reportedly left his home.

Law enforcement had asked residents in the Henning area to check their deer stands, outbuildings and other areas of their property for signs of the missing man.

The 24-hour search effort also included an extensive ground search staffed by volunteers and 15 to 20 search and rescue dogs Monday.

Authorities announce new direction for search for missing Minnesota man

Monday evening, the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office announced its decision to suspend the ground search.

The announcement said authorities plan to “continue to take further investigative measures” as part of the search efforts.

Shaw is described as approximately 5'10″ and 160 pounds. The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office plans to provide an update on search efforts later this week.
