Search efforts continue for missing swimmer on Lake Travis

TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Search efforts continue Sunday after a missing swimmer was reported Saturday afternoon near Devil's Cove on Lake Travis.

The Travis County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call around 4 p.m. Saturday for a missing swimmer. The caller said the swimmer had been missing for 15 to 20 minutes, according to TCSO.

The missing swimmer is a 26-year-old man who fell from a pontoon boat, according to the Texas Game Wardens.

The sheriff's office said initial rescue efforts failed and became a recovery mission. Search efforts ended after dark Saturday and resumed at sunrise Sunday.

Search efforts will end at nightfall Sunday evening and resume at sunrise Monday, according to the Texas Game Wardens. The Texas Game Warden Aviation Unit and Texas Game Warden Underwater Search and Recovery Team will be part of Monday's search efforts.

Crews are using sonar technology, underwater cameras, surface searches, shoreline searches, aerial searches from STAR Flight and the TCSO Dive Team to locate the swimmer.

The search continued Sunday afternoon, the sheriff's office said.
