(WJET/WFXP) β€” On June 10 at 4 p.m., Conneaut Police dispatchers confirmed to JET 24/FOX 66 that some teams were back searching for the missing 10-year-old boy. No further details were reported.

The U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search for the boy on Sunday and continued its search starting Saturday.

According to a Facebook post from Springfield Local Schools in Ohio, the boy was identified as Hunter, who was an incoming sixth grader in the school district this fall.

The post also goes on to say the school district has set aside time Monday for staff and students to meet with grief counselors and support dogs at Schrop Middle School.

Original story β€” The search for the 10-year-old missing from a beach in Conneaut Township, Ohio, has now turned into a recovery mission.

According to ABC affiliate WEWS, Conneaut police dispatchers confirmed the 10-year-old drowned at Conneaut Beach.

Conneaut City Manager Nicholas Sanford said calls came in just before 1:30 Friday afternoon for a missing 10-year-old boy.

Members of the Conneaut Police and Fire Department as well as the U.S. Coast Guard are searching for the child, as well as an underwater search by the Conneaut Dive Team and search and rescue dogs have also been brought.

According to the USCG Great Lakes post on X, formerly known as Twitter, ODNR, Coast Guard dive teams and STAs Erie/Fairport and AIRSTA Detroit are all assisting in the search. The search was called off shortly before 10 p.m. on Friday and recovery operations are expected to begin on Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a warning earlier this week about strong rip currents at many Lake Erie beaches Thursday through Saturday afternoon, advising beachgoers to stay out of the water.

β€œOn behalf of the City of Conneaut, our thoughts and prayers certainly go out to the family, the Ashtabula County Crisis Response Team is with the family along with members of the clergy from the City of Conneaut, which is a fantastic benefit. It's unfortunate to be in these circumstances, but we're glad they're with the family right now,” said Nicholas Sanford, Conneaut, OH city manager.

This is a developing story, details will be provided as they become available.
