McCain is charged with corporal injury to a spouse or parent of a child. Additionally, the crime of false imprisonment by violence. Criminal threats and criminal assaults by means of force are likely to produce serious bodily injury.

Meanwhile, Saelee-McCain is still missing. This is the poster you've probably seen on social media.

Action News Now had the opportunity to speak to Saelee-McCain's half-sister and a family friend about the search to bring her home.

“Nikki is a sweet and kind-hearted person. She will always make your day happy no matter what it is. If you're having a bad day, she's always there for you. Always. She, as I said, has a double heart; she just doesn’t disappear like that,” said Nikki’s half-sister Nying Saelee.

“Without her, they all have a part of her heart that’s empty,” said Ray Smith, a family friend.

Saelee-McCain is 4' 11″ tall and weighs 110 lbs. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Most recently, her pewter-colored 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche with California license plate dp154ut was located in West County of Tehama.

A community search took place in the area where the vehicle was located, but Saelee-McCain was not located.

“This place is very remote, and it’s hard to explain this place, like, why would this car be there?” » said Nying Saelee.

The NorCal Alliance for the Missing is working alongside the family. Founder Trudy Nickens says the alliance is spreading the word about Saelee-McCain's disappearance on social media, monitoring the hotline and even offering a reward for new information.

Shasta County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Tim Mapes could not confirm whether he was investigating the husband as a possible suspect in the disappearance.

The sheriff's office released this statement to Action News Now, saying in part:

“The Nikki Cheng Saelee McCain missing person case remains active and detectives with the Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit continue to work diligently on the investigation. Further details about the actions taken by investigators are being withheld due to the integrity of the investigation.

“If anyone saw anything.” I saw his truck from May 18th and beyond anywhere if it stopped at a gas station or grocery store. Whether you saw anyone inside or not, but you saw the vehicle. Any type of information like that may seem small, but it may be the piece law enforcement needs to crack the case and bring her home,” Smith said .

“I feel like there is hope that she will come home. Every day we think about her and want her to come home,” Nying Saelee said.

The Shasta County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 530-245-6135 or by email at [email protected].
