Search continues for missing Amherst woman; family has a search party

AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – A dedicated group of community members and Elsie Wiggington's family came together to hand out flyers and search the area near her property in an effort to find the missing woman Saturday June 8.

The search team gathered at the Food Lion in Amherst County, where more than a dozen affected people gathered early around 3:30 p.m.

Wiggington has been missing since June last year. According to the police, no significant leads have yet been identified.

Elsie's friends and family remain determined to bring her home, relying on community support and persistent police search efforts.

Sakieya Royster, a researcher who participated in today's efforts, told WDBJ7 she is committed to helping with the research.

“Whatever it is, I can help, I’m willing to.” I just hope we can find the information we need to bring her home,” Royster said.

Victoria Seal, Elsie's half-sister and search organizer, said she was determined to bring Elsie home.

“We are. We're going to keep going until we find our answers, so we're not going to stop until we find out what happened. And if anyone did something, we We’ll find out and we won’t stop until we do,” Seal said.

Elsie's family is encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone with information on Wiggington's whereabouts is asked to contact the Amherst Sheriff's Office or Virginia State Police.
