Sean Kingston's Florida home raided by SWAT and his mother arrested for fraud

It's not a good way to approach the Memorial holiday weekend for Sean Kingston, as his South Florida home was just raided by police and a SWAT team Thursday morning. Carey Codd, public information officer for the Broward Sheriff's Office, confirmed to multiple media outlets that detectives and the Davie Police SWAT team “executed arrest and search warrants at a residence in Southwest Ranches » following an investigation.

The investigation led to the arrest of Kingston's 62-year-old mother, Janice Turner, on multiple “fraud and theft charges.” Yeah. According to Local News 10, the “Beautiful Girls” singer was not on site during the search.

Details regarding Turner's arrest and whether Kingston will face charges remain unclear. But it all looks horrible. Earlier this month, according to court documents obtained by USA TODAY, Turner was sued civilly by Curran Living Trust for $100,000 in unpaid rent for another location in Florida.

Sean Kingston, who rose to fame with his 2007 single “Beautiful Girls,” is also facing legal issues. In February, Ver Ver Entertainment sued him for breach of contract and fraud, alleging he failed to pay for a 232-inch television and a high-end sound system. The company claimed Kingston used her celebrity status, including her alleged connection to Justin Bieber, to negotiate a lower price. They are seeking $30,000 and attorney's fees in a jury trial.

Attorney Dennis Card, representing Ver Ver Entertainment, spoke with Local 10 News Thursday outside of the raid. “He’s basically using a sales pitch to defraud people. He tricks them into giving him very expensive things,” Card said. “We know our property is inside this house right here, so as soon as the raid happens, we're going to send a team of people in there to reassemble it and bring it back to its rightful owner.”
