Schuylkill County woman identified as victim of fatal Berks County crash

A Schuylkill County woman was identified as the victim of a fatal crash in Berks County earlier this week.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at approximately 1:40 p.m. on the Benjamin Franklin Highway (Route 422), in Exeter Township.

Police said Kellyann Gemmell, 52, of Minersville, was in a sedan stopped at a red light at the intersection with Daniel Boone Road when she was struck by the rear of a tractor-trailer.

Gemmell was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the Berks County Coroner's Office. A passenger in Gemmell's vehicle was also injured and taken to the hospital.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured and his name has not been released due to the crash investigation.

Exeter City Police are investigating the crash.
