Sarasota shooting suspect arrested in South Florida, police say

Police arrested a 54-year-old man in Miami on Thursday in connection with an overnight shooting in Sarasota.

After a brief search, Miami police arrested Kevin Holloway after a man was found dead from gunshot wounds near the intersection of Dixie Avenue and 24th Street shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday. Miami and Miami-Dade police arrested Holloway after Sarasota police detectives determined he was responsible for the shooting.

Sarasota police were unable to provide information about the events leading up to the shooting, but the investigation is ongoing. Police have not released information about the victim's identification.

“This case highlights our commitment to community safety and the importance of interagency cooperation,” said Sarasota Police Chief Rex Troche. “Thank you to all the officers and detectives involved for their hard work and dedication. We continue to uphold the law and protect our community.”
