SAPD investigates West Side stabbing that started as an altercation

The suspect allegedly hit the man with a beer can and stabbed him in the side of the chest.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are investigating a stabbing that occurred Monday afternoon on the city's west side.

Police said two men, believed to be in their 30s, got into an altercation at the corner of Guadalupe Street and Hamilton Avenue. That's when the suspect allegedly hit the man with a beer can and stabbed him in the side of the chest.

The man was taken to University Hospital in serious condition.

Police say it is not yet clear what the altercation was about. No word on charges.
