Santa Rosa man wearing “Jason” mask arrested for possession of assault weapon

A Santa Rosa man arrested for driving without his headlights Saturday night was arrested after police found what they described as an “AR-15” style rifle in the car.

At approximately 9:40 p.m., members of the Santa Rosa Police Department's Special Enforcement Team spotted a gold Toyota Camry near the intersection of Marlow Road and Bay Village Circle, operating without headlights or taillights, according to a police report.

The police couldn't help but notice that the driver was wearing a “Jason” style hockey goalie mask.

The driver, Adonay Efriem, a 27-year-old Santa Rosa resident, was “sweating profusely and appeared nervous” when police made contact with him, the report states.

One of the officers noticed a firearm partially concealed by a blanket in the back seat. The weapon was a 5.56mm Eagle Arms Eagle-15 semi-automatic rifle, police said.

Although it was not loaded, the rifle was determined to be an unregistered assault weapon that Efriem could not legally possess, according to police.

He was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of possession of an assault weapon.
