Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office walks back Corey Feldman's denial, saying it does have recordings of his sexual abuse allegations

Weeks after denying it had any records of Corey Feldman's 1993 claims, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office now admits it found those exact records.

Feldman claimed in October that more than two decades ago he specifically identified to police a list of people involved in an alleged pedophile ring that was plaguing Hollywood, saying on the “Today” show that he “told them had given names. They are registered. have all this information. »

The sheriff's office completely denied the claim, responding, “Our records do not indicate he named any suspects.” »

But on Tuesday, the bureau revealed that it actually had audio recordings of Feldman's 1993 interview, conducted during its investigation of Michael Jackson. According to a statement to Fox News, the team recently combed through its old files after being subjected to intense media scrutiny.

“Following recent investigations into the interrogation of Mr. Feldman by the Sheriff's Office in 1993, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office has conducted an additional examination for all stored items remaining from the Michael Jackson investigation,” said Kelly Hoover, public information officer. “In a container containing the original reports from the investigation, the Sheriff's Office found detectives' working copies of audio recordings made during the investigation. A copy of Mr. Feldman's interview was found. “

The recording, she said, is being turned over to the Los Angeles Police Department.

“Given that this case involves the alleged sexual abuse of a child, we are unable to comment further and any documents or evidence related to this case are exempt from disclosure,” Hoover said.

Fox News initially contacted the sheriff's office in October, at which point they responded: “We are aware of Mr. Feldman's statements regarding an investigation conducted in 1993. Our records do not indicate that he named any suspects. “

Feldman has long said he is keenly aware of Hollywood predators who sexually abused children, particularly in the '80s and '90s.
