John Sansone is supported by the Orleans County Deputy Sheriff's Association, which includes 21 law enforcement officers in the Highway Patrol Division and Criminal Investigation Division of the Orleans County Sheriff's Office .

The Deputy Sheriffs Association announced this afternoon its support for Sansone, who is running for district attorney against Susan Howard. Early voting begins Saturday and continues through June 23, with June 25 being primary day. Sansone was endorsed by the Republican Party Committee and Howard subsequently forced the primary. She defends the Conservative Party line for the November general election.

The Deputy Sheriff's Association said it met with Sansone and Howard.

“The Deputy Sheriffs Association has concluded that Mr. Sansone’s extensive legal experience and strong commitment to justice make him the ideal candidate for district attorney,” the union said in a statement. “This endorsement reflects the Deputy Sheriff's Association's confidence in Mr. Sansone's ability to effectively and efficiently lead the Prosecutor's Office and enforce the law in Orleans County. Please join us in supporting John Sansone for Orleans County District Attorney.

Sansone also announced he has the support of state Sen. Rob Ortt, whose district includes Niagara, Orleans and part of west Monroe. Ortt is the Republican leader in the state Senate.

Sansone said he supports Ortt's efforts to change bail reform laws and other state policies “that make it easy for dangerous people to return to the streets immediately after being charged of crimes.”

“Senator Ortt’s endorsement is critically important to me and everyone who lives in Orleans County,” Sansone said in a press release announcing Ortt’s endorsement. “As I have said throughout the campaign, we must change the laws that put our citizens at risk, and I will join the senator in fighting for it in Albany. I also know that as one of the most respected voices in Albany, the trust the Senator has placed in me to not only keep people safe, but to work as a partner to make a difference in Albany, is gratifying beyond explanation. As a respected prosecutor, we share the same vision: ensuring the safety of all our families! »
