San Rafael teen suspected of drunken driving crashes into parked cars, police say

(KRON) — A San Rafael teenager who was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol crashed into several parked cars on the morning of July 4, according to the San Rafael Police Department.

Police responded to the 500 block of Cedar Hill Drive in the Terra Linda neighborhood after 9-1-1 dispatchers received reports of a traffic collision. Arriving officers located an 18-year-old San Rafael resident who police believe was responsible for the collision with several of the parked cars.

According to a witness at the scene, the teenage suspect was observed pouring drinks that appeared to be alcoholic.

San Rafael police officers conducted a field sobriety test and determined that the 18-year-old was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The driver was arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail for driving under the influence of alcohol after being cleared by a doctor.

“This is a reminder that driving under the influence of alcohol is extremely dangerous and illegal,” San Rafael police wrote on social media. “Drive sober, designate a sober driver, use rideshare services, or take public transportation.”
