A suspect shot and injured one person following a chase in San Rafael, police said.

Authorities were notified of a shooting around 2:30 p.m. Saturday on D Street, where an argument between neighbors turned violent, San Rafael police Lt. Scott Eberle said.

One of them brandished a handgun and fired a shot that missed a person, police reported. Some members of the targeted group then chased the shooter who fled in a Toyota sedan.

Eberle said both parties crashed into vehicles parked near the bocce court on B Street. The shooter then fired several rounds that struck a targeted person before the person left his vehicle and ran away. fled, police said. The victim was hospitalized and is in stable condition, Eberle said.

It's unclear whether the two sides exchanged gunfire, Eberle said Tuesday. The shooter remains at large and the investigation continues, authorities said.
